  1. I have a question. Can you use editing marks on the SAT essay (such as asterisks)?

    • You can use editing marks, such as an asterisk, on the SAT essay. Make sure, though, that your response is neat and legible, and if you have to use editing marks, make them clear. Take the first 20 – 25 minutes of the Essay task to read the prompt and passage, organize your thoughts, and outline your response. This should minimize the need for editing marks.
